The **Astra Film Festival** is an international documentary film festival held annually in Sibiu, Romania. Founded in 1993 by Dumitru Budrala, it is one of the most significant non-fiction film festivals in Europe. The festival showcases a wide range of documentary films from around the world, offering a platform for filmmakers to present their work and engage with audiences.
I had the honor of being the delegate to create the animated bumper for the 30th anniversary of the Astra Film Festival in 2023. This bumper was designed to be projected before the start of each film block, serving as the official festival intro for that year.
The bumper is immersive for fulldome 360°, taking viewers on a visual and auditory journey created by spheres to simulate the 30 years of the festival. First, each block of particles emerges in the distinctive colors of the festival and eventually blends together due to the exit of the logo in an eruptive manner. Thus achieving the color cohesion brought about by the festival's impulsive action of bringing together films and documentaries from different parts of the planet in the same space, creating a perfect blend of culture, art, tecnology and enjoymen.

The **2023 edition of the Astra Film Festival** marked its 30th anniversary and took place from **October 15 to 22** in Sibiu, Romania⁵. This milestone edition featured an impressive lineup of over **130 films from more than 40 countries**⁵. The festival continued to celebrate and showcase exceptional documentary films, offering a diverse range of narratives and perspectives.
Another year at one of our favorite festivals in the world: the Astra Film Festival. Every year we try to make everything better, more beautiful, more entertaining.
For this edition we added many new activities to the DOME program.
Outside the dome we had a live 3D Mapping, inside; the audience could participate by playing with an interactive application using a Surface Pro 5 that allowed them to create images and music in the dome. We also had masterclasses with interesting personalities of the scene like Julius Horsthuis and Alles Schick, and a final party by UNGO VISUALS.

One of the highlights was the special screening of "Milky Way," a documentary by Dumitru Budrala, which explores the world of transhumance³. The festival also included various sections and programs, such as Astra Film Junior, which provided educational screenings and workshops for children and teenagers³.
The event was well-attended and celebrated for its contribution to the documentary film community, providing a platform for filmmakers to present their work and engage with audiences.
